Where Neurodivergence is Understood

Mission

We use the power of the ocean and the natural world to empower neurodivergent people to build self-confidence, develop lasting friendships, and achieve their goals.

Welcome

At The Neurodivergence Project, we bring neurodivergent people together through sailing and outdoor adventures. Whether under-18 or over-18, participants find space to grow in confidence, foster independence, and build friendships that last.

Time on the water and in the outdoors offers experiences that feel different from school, work, or home – creating opportunities to connect, reflect, and thrive. We’re also developing access to signposted counselling and resources so support continues beyond the adventures themselves.

Volunteers aged 18+ are also welcome, bringing lived and professional experience to help shape inclusive, life-changing opportunities.

Our goal is simple: a community where neurodivergent people feel understood, supported, and able to live fuller lives.

Why We Exist

Too often, neurodivergent people are left waiting – for diagnoses, for access to SEND support, for the right provision, or simply for understanding. Many fall through the cracks of education, or reach adulthood without the tools or community they need. Isolation, difficulty navigating adjustments, and struggles finding meaningful work are far too common.

At The Neurodivergence Project, we’re here to change that. Through sailing, outdoor programmes and developing support services, we help neurodivergent individuals feel seen, valued, and equipped to thrive – at any stage of life.

I had never sailed on a boat that big before. It was a great experience because I met two like-minded people called Matt and Phil. Matt was a great host – kind, caring, and attentive, always asking if I was okay. He had even made a sailing plan so I knew what we were doing. Phill was also a very knowledgeable captain and great to get to know.

The trip over to Yarmouth was relaxed and peaceful, with stunning scenery and great weather. It was also my first time going to the Isle of Wight. I would love to repeat this experience and carry on picking up some sailing skills.
